Founder & Director
BPsych(Hons) MPsych (Ed&Dev)
Rachael is a developmental psychologist and mother of two, and is deeply passionate about supporting women through the many seasons of motherhood.
Her experience spans work with people of all ages and backgrounds, with particular expertise in anxiety, stress, attachment, family dynamics, identity, and self-esteem. Since becoming a mother herself, Rachael’s work has grown to focus on the inner world of mothers — the joys, the challenges, and the profound personal growth that motherhood brings.
Grounded in evidence-based psychology and a deep respect for each mother’s unique story, Rachael’s approach is gentle, relational, and collaborative. She believes that healing happens through connection — and that a safe, supportive relationship is at the heart of meaningful change.
With additional training in Circle of Security Parenting and Motherhood Studies, Rachael brings a rich understanding of attachment, emotional safety, and the realities of “good-enough” parenting. She also explores how modern motherhood is shaped by social and cultural expectations, helping women reflect on what truly matters to them.
Rachael offers a compassionate and non-judgmental space for mothers to pause, reflect, and reconnect — with themselves, their values, and the kind of mother they want to be.
Her goal is to help each mother feel more grounded, confident, and whole — not by striving for perfection, but by finding peace in authenticity and growth.
Rachael will be taking new clients in January 2026.
She is available via telehealth on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 4pm.
Hello and welcome, I’m Rachael.
When I first became a mum, I got busy trying to perfect and perform the role of mother. I was fixated on consuming all the information I could about this job that I was given without any training and little support. The responsibility weighed heavy. I felt confused, lonely and resentful. I thought I was failing as a mother.
I was no longer the person I used to be, so I dedicated myself to mothering amidst the pressures of returning to work and maintaining a household. I held unrealistic standards and sidelined myself in favour of my family. I was exhausted and overwhelmed and struggled daily to meet or even acknowledge my needs.
Sound familiar? Unfortunately, my story is not unlike the stories of many women who are navigating the ups and downs of mothering today. While this self-sacrificing, all-encompassing portrayal of the mother could easily be dismissed as ‘‘the whole point’’, I don’t buy it.
I choose to challenge the status quo and reflect on the individual and systemic influences shaping our mothering and experience of motherhood.
Whether it’s our upbringing, early experiences, or broader social and cultural expectations, mothers are not blank slates. We come to motherhood through our humanness. We are people first. With this in mind, I created The Mama Well as a reflective, safe, and non-judgmental space for you to share your story, experience being held and witnessed in your motherhood, and to be supported as a whole person.
Motherhood has been the single most challenging experience of my life, but it has also been a time of immense transformation. To thrive in motherhood, we must continually show up for ourselves, learn new skills, and reconnect with our intuition.
At The Mama Well, we are here to nurture you through every stage of motherhood. Because mothers are deserving of support, and not just in service of their children, but as individuals worthy of care in their own right.
Our Values
At The Mama Well, we believe that motherhood is a journey that invites you to know yourself more deeply, to grow, and to be held through every season along the way.
Our work is guided by five core values that reflect how we hold space, support, and walk with you as you return to yourself.
-
We honour honesty over perfection. You’re welcome here exactly as you are - whole, human, and enough.
-
We meet every mother with warmth and understanding, knowing that change grows best in kindness, not judgement.
-
Healing happens in connection - with yourself, your children, and others who truly understand.
-
We blend psychological insight with gentle guidance, helping you understand yourself more deeply and trust your own wisdom.
-
Growth in motherhood is rarely linear. We celebrate growth in all its forms and walk with you as you evolve
The Mama Well is a place for mothers to be held, supported, and reminded that their wellbeing matters too.
