Psychology

Our psychology sessions offer tailored, evidence-based support to help you navigate the challenges of motherhood with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.

Whether you’re preparing for motherhood, pregnant, or adjusting to life with little ones, we can support you through:

  • Feeling anxious, low, or overwhelmed in pregnancy or early motherhood

  • Finding it hard to bond or feel connected with your baby

  • Processing a difficult or traumatic birth, or preparing for birth with greater calm and confidence

  • Navigating identity shifts, relationship changes, or the adjustment to motherhood

  • Understanding and softening feelings of guilt, shame, or anger

  • Reflecting on your own childhood and creating new patterns for your family

  • Gaining support and strategies for responding to your child’s challenging behaviours

Motherhood can stir up many emotions — some expected, some surprising. Whatever season you’re in, support is here. Our sessions provide a safe, nurturing space to slow down, and make sense of your experience.

About Psychology Support

What to expect

  • No. You can book directly. However, to access Medicare rebates, you’ll need a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP.

  • Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes.

  • This will be different for everyone, however, research shows that consistent and regular sessions with your clinician gets you the best outcomes. We will generally recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions initially, and then this may extend as you progress.

Please speak to your clinician at your first appointment if you have any questions or concerns.

  • Your first session is a gentle conversation. We’ll listen to your story, explore what brought you here, and work together on a plan that feels supportive and achievable.

  • In order for you to get the most out of your session, we recommend only babies in arms attend with you. This helps you to focus and engage throughout the whole session.

Bringing your new baby also helps your clinician to see the connection and bond between the two of you, and is highly encouraged.
